Maybe I did not see when the babies hatched, but I think that they hatched two Fridays ago, and left the following Tuesday. Seems like they should have stayed longer? Oh well.

Mourning Dove

We have a mourning dove nesting on the little depression on top of our ladder! NB the beak used for foraging for seeds on the ground.

You can see that the dove has made its nest on top of a ladder that is leaning against the wall only feet away from our door. The dove does not seem to mind that we are near it.

Spring Race, Middleburg, VA - 2010 April 17

Corey, Jen, and Laura invited a few of their friends to the Spring Field Race. I drove with Mike, Tony, Laura, and her friend Anette to Middleburg Va. We were a few minutes late and missed the first of seven races. The weather was windy, and in between races, some people would shelter in the cars. I had a lot of fun and look forward to my next race!

Malapascua is a tiny island, only about 2.5 kilometers long and 1 km wide. Off shore, Monad Shoal is an underwater plateau where thresher sharks and manta rays can be sighted regularly. Although, I dove the shoal the day after a typhoon and did not see any sharks or rays. The visibility was surprisingly good, and the sharks are said to swim out of the crevices in the shoal.
